Alright it’s summer time! And though we may not be our planned summer vacay, we still might be taking a dip in the pool or lounging at the beach. Chlorine is an aggressive, harsh CLEANSING AGENT! Remember: our hair is very porous, it absorbs everything like a sponge! Chlorine is not something you want your hair to absorb or be soaking in for hours. Not only will it dry out your ends, strip/shift your color but it will stay in your hair and continue to damage. I’ve even seen it cause a chemical reaction when trying to bleach someone’s hair with chlorine in it. 🙅🏽♀️🙅🏽♀️ Here’s how you can protect your hair:
•before you enter the pool, completely wet your hair with regular water first. This will make your hair absorb that water first. •Second add on a layer of a conditioner, coconut oil, hair mask or one of these liquid swim cap products! Hair care brands are producing more products to protect your hair from chlorine and UV rays and these products act as a jelly-like barrier to protect your locks. What do UV Rays do to your color? It exposes your natural undertone! So if you’re brunette it will exposed RED or ORANGE! (Make it Brassy) If you’re naturally light, which is rare, it will expose YELLOW. It would be great if you can wear a hat for protection but we all know after 1 too many poolside glasses of rosé everyone tends to let their hair down 😉
