The big shampoo post

A BIG shampoo post of all my faves! I’ve been doing hair for about 18 years and have tried a great deal of shampoos- professional and not so professional! It’s great to hear feedback from clients about shampoo they’ve been using and be able to actually see the effects of it on their hair! TRUST!!! Shampoo is everything! It can not only make your hair color last 80% longer but give your hair the shine, smoothness and luster it’s lacking! It’s important to ALTERNATE your shampoo from use to use. It’s possible for your hair to get too hydrated and fall flat or get too clean where it lacks luster and shine. I keep about 3-5 bottles of different shampoo in my shower because all of them do different things. If you’ve used a shampoo forever it might feel like it’s “stopped working” but a lot of that is environmental too. Are you working out more? Did you stop working out? Is it chilly out so your using your heater and it’s dry inside? Did you move and now you have hard water and mineral build up? Everything effects your hair! Like I mentioned, alternating your shampoo every couple of washes is necessary so it’s good to have a few options! Here is my list of all my faves

Best Moisturizing Shampoo:

Milbon replenishing shampoo. This shampoo smells incredible, like green apples but not too fruity. It’s very cleansing and lathers SO well, moisturizing and lightweight. Union Salon carries this shampoo for $28 including tax and it costs a lot more on Amazon, so just purchase at your next visit! If your hair gets oily after day 1, moisture shampoos aren’t for you, head to the volumizing section and pair it with a moisture conditioner.

Bumble and bumble. Invisible Oil shampoo A cult product, this B&b shampoo will be found in Beauty Editors’ and Influencers’ haircare collections worldwide. Also a client favorite of mine. It’s super hydrating and even though it’s sulfate free it has a great lather to it! This is a universally good shampoo for color treated hair or natural hair. Moderately priced, I suggest only purchasing Bumble from their website, Sephora or Ulta Beauty. Anywhere else this product will be diverted. $27 Bumble and bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Hydrating Shampoo https://a.co/d/8ELfnBV

Best shampoo for excessive oily scalp:

Sachajuans Normalizing Shampoo. In case you couldn't guess from the label, Sachajuan's formula has been designed to 'normalise' hair. Which is just a fancy way of saying it cleanses any oil or dirt from the scalp and roots, whilst also soothing dryness and sensitivity. The formula contains salicylic acid which is able to dissolve dead cells and combat dandruff, whilst rosemary oil and menthol work to calm and soothe. The balanced formula means it's safe to use 'often', and won't leave your hair feeling stripped or straw-like. $26

Best Dry Scalp/Dandruff Shampoo:

Keep in mind most dandruff shampoo’s are NOT color safe and are actually very drying to the ends of your hair. I suggest to use a dandruff shampoo only at your scalp (don’t apply to ends of hair) and use sparingly like 1-2 times a month. When you use them let it sit on your scalp for a couple of minutes.

Keracare Dry & itchy scalp shampoo. Effective against dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis and seborrhea. Also good for normal scalp during periods when scalp is dry, such as during the winter months. Keep in for 5 minutes when using. $14 Avlon Kera Care Dry & Itchy Scalp Anti-Dandruff Moisturizing Conditioner 8 oz https://a.co/d/8VAscGx

Best Clarifying Shampoo:

Ouai Detox Shampoo. A clarifying shampoo should be used only if you have some buildup from too much product, gone a few extra days without shampooing or if you’re washing your hair and it’s not feeling clean. For example-use if you use multiple hair products everyday, go 3+ days without shampooing and have a lot of oil build up and dry shampoo.  This shampoo will give you a deep cleanse, however clarifying shampoos are NOT color safe.
